Summary: I am posting this piece that I wrote in 1997 to remind you that bubbles and high valuations are nothing new. And sometimes, they can hang around a long time—this one ended with the Dotcom crash a few years later. You can download a PDF file of the testimony by clicking on the image below or by clicking the following link. Download.
I have seen a lot of bubbles in the past 50 years. I only know two things about them: 1) they always pop, and 2) we are always surprised when they do. But Delbert McClinton said it better, “When Rita leaves, Rita’s gone.” I suggest you give the song a listen. When you do, pay attention to the lyrics. They will save you a lot of money.
When Rita leaves, Rita's gone She gave me every chance a man could want I've never known a love so strong Or so crazy when she's been done wrong When Rita leaves, Rita's gone
I hope that you enjoy the column, and the sone, and welcome your comments.
